Mum and Teen Date Night – Annie The Musical

Mum and Teen Date Night – Annie The Musical

This week, I took time out of the madness of life to head to the theatre. Lex and I had a Mum and Teen Date Night watching Annie The Musical.

Annie The Musical is currently on tour around the country. The production opened with a scene in the orphans dormitory. Anita Dobson is starring as Miss Hannigan.
Annie tells the story of an 11-year-old girl who is living in an orphanage in New York. it is set in the 1930’s Great Depression.

She is lucky enough to be the orphan chosen by Grace to spend 2 weeks with famous billionaire Oliver Warbucks. Meaning she gets to escape Christmas at the orphanage and the malicious drunk, Miss Hannigan.

Straightaway Warbucks and Annie clicked and grew a lovely Father/Daughter style relationship. After the two weeks together Oliver Warbucks decides he wants to adopt Annie. However, Annie had her heart set on finding her real parents, who left her at the orphanage as a baby with the promise to return one day. Oliver Warbucks decided to offer a financial reward, but that just brought streams of couples posing as her parents. Including Miss Hannigan’s brother and girlfriend. But the truth was soon revealed when Warbucks called the president into investigate.

The cast were great and Anita Dobson, played the loony drunk extremely well. The cutest star of the show had to be Sandy the dog, who received lots of ahhhh from the audience.

Annie The Musical is on at Bristol Hippodrome until Saturday 23rd March. Then it continues on it’s UK tour until July 2019. The show was very entertaining and a great family evening out.
