Rock of Ages Musical

Rock of Ages Musical

This week Bristol Hippodrome hosts Rock of Ages the Musical. Rock of ages is a comedy musical, with some hilarious moments. The musical has been running since 2005 and visited 100s of theatres across the world.

It is currently touring the UK until the end of July and will be running at Bristol Hippodrome until 20th April. Currently, Antony Costa of Blue fame is playing the lead role of Stacie Jaxx. Costa is no stranger to the stage and has starred in Blood Brothers and A Judgement in Stone. Strictly’s Kevin Clifton with be joining the cast in some towns on the tour. I also spotted another familiar face Kevin Kennedy aka Curly Watts from Corrie. Kennedy played Dennis in the production. The whole cast were very talented and entertaining.

Lonny Barnett narrates the show starting in 1987 through the ups and downs of a rock and roll lifestyle. The Borbon Rooms sees many sites through the production. They are desperate to save the venue from demolition and invite Stacie Jaxx back to play there. When Stacie Jaxx returns a romance blossoms with Sherrie, but it isn’t all smooth sailing.

The show is bursting with so many singalong classics including ‘I want to know what love is’, ‘We built this city’ and ‘The Final Countdown’. The show is pretty raunchy, so definitely not one for the kids.

My final round up of the production, a great show, so funny with fantastic music. Bags full of laughter and interaction with the audience. Definitely a show I would watch again.

Disclaimer : I received 2 press tickets for me to review the show.
