Westonbirt Enchanted Christmas

Westonbirt Enchanted Christmas

Now we are into the second week of December, I am just about ready to mention Christmas. The kids are super excited so it was lovely to get the opportunity to kick off the Festive Season with a visit to Westonbirt Enchanted Christmas event.

Enchanted Christmas Westonbirt

Westonbirt Arboretum is open all year around, with seasonal trails throughout the year. This Christmas the popular Enchanted Christmas illuminated Trail is back. We had very high hopes for our visit as the Westonbirt event was voted Britain’s Favourite Christmas Light Display. Even though it was a pretty rainy evening when we visited, the trail did not disappoint.

The Enchanted Christmas Event runs every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 30th November up until Christmas. When booking you will get to chose a time slot to avoid overcrowding. However we visited as the trail opened and thought that it would be super busy but it was very managable and we were able to see all the attractions plus I was able to keep tabs on the kids. the trail opens at 5pm but you are able to arrive and enjoy the Christmas Village from 4pm.

The Christmas Village has a good selection of Christmas themed rides. Also stalls with some delicious smelling warm food. And who doesn’t love a glass of mulled wine on a festive evening out! The Christmas Village also has a craft tent with free activities for kids, great to keep them occupied before or after visiting the illuminated trail. There was a large marquee with some local craft stalls and plenty of seating, which we took advantage of during a rain shower.

The Enchanted Christmas Trail

As soon as we started on the Enchanted Christmas trail the kids were pointing out the massive lit up trees. The bright colours keep the kids interest throughout and I’m sure they would be interesting to younger children too. I noticed that it seemed to be a multi-generational evening out, with lots of families visiting with small tots right though to grandparents. Halfway around the trail there are toilets and refreshment stands including hot donuts, yum!

Westonbirt Father Christmas

My children had slightly different highlights of their visit when asked. Aliza, 6, loved meeting the Victorian Father Christmas dressed in green. Jolie, 10, liked the musical tree display. Lexia, 13, enjoyed seeing the strobe lights shining amongest the trees. And well Faryl, 8, loved getting wet and seeing how many puddles he could jump in without getting caught!!!!

My verdict, it was a very enjoyable evening. If you are planning on attending make sure you wrap up warm. Wear sensible footwear as parts of the trail are slightly uneven and can be muddy if there has been rainfall.

All visits to the Enchanted Christmas event need to be booked in advance.
